In the fall of 2000, Steve began the study of law at North Carolina Central University. A student in the Evening program, he continued to operate ENT while attending classes. After graduating in May 2004, he passed the Bar Exam in July, and was admitted to the practice of law in October 2004.
Steve currently lives outside of Hillsborough with his wife Bev and their two dogs. The parents of three adult children, they look forward to the imminent return to Orange County of the oldest, Amy, with her husband Eli and their first grandchild. |

A thirty-year resident of Orange County, Steve was born in New Jersey. At age nineteen, he moved to Richmond, Virginia . After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1976, he attended graduate school at Arizona State University, receiving his Master’s degree in Mathematics in 1978. Arriving in North Carolina in the summer of 1978, Steve found a home in West Hillsborough. While continuing his studies at UNC, Steve began working as a land surveyor with Philip Hall and Associates and with Alois Callemyn. He received his license as a North Carolina Registered Land Surveyor in 1982.
In 1983, with the help of the Freeland family, Steve opened ENT Land Surveys in Hillsborough. Located at 226 South Churton Street since 1984, ENT Land Surveys provides a variety of surveying services. Steve has helped many Orange County families plan for the development and conservation of their homes and land for twenty-five years. |

Steve served on the Orange County Planning Board from 1984 to 1990. He was later appointed to the Orange County Economic Development Commission, where he contributed to the creation of the Orange County Economic Development Districts.
